On Saturday, November 9th, 2024, the West Bottoms buzzed with energy as the Girls on the Run 5K brought together a community of 3,000 runners, families, and volunteers for an unforgettable celebration of achievement. Girls on the Run, a nonprofit organization that empowers young girls through lessons in confidence and resilience paired with running, hosted the event as the culmination of weeks of hard work and personal growth for its participants.

Starting at the Hy-Vee Arena, the race took runners on a scenic journey through the historic streets of the West Bottoms, crossing from Kansas into Missouri and back again.
